ASSIGNMENTS

Assignments for VCYS league season:
Click Here for a .pdf file of the current season's assignments. These will be updated as we get assignments from Leanne or have changes. Check often! VCYS Referee Assignments.

The assignor for our league is Leanne Harris. She can be reached at assignor@vcys.org. You may go to www.sdsrarefs.com to complete Availability Forms and let Leanne know that you want to work games in Valley Center, at the tournaments she assigns or any other league competitions she assigns. And while you are at it join the best Referee Association in San Diego SDSRA!

This next page will take you to Tournaments and non-league assignments we know about , availibility forms, who to write to, etc. Most of this will be for assignments between June and August. These are assignments from multiple associations. If you have only worked for Leanne you may want to ask her to send an email of introduction to the assignor.

CERTIFICATION & EDUCATION

For a list of all the 2007 San Diego area clinics click here

Are you looking for a clinic that will work for you? Check out the Clinics Page at Cal South Referee Committee for a list of all the Southern California clinics. If you are an entry level Referee please take the Grade 8 classes. Valley Center does not assign Grade 9 or below.

Do not overlook the continuing education opportunities that you can receive attending your association's meetings. It is also a great opportunity to discuss and review any specific issues you may have experienced or wonder about. Check out the Publications section below, read the articles and watch the videos.

REGISTRATION

You must have a current year USSF Referee badge to work Valley Center Youth Soccer games. To see if you are on the current list of referees you can go to the 2007 Registered Officials list at the Cal South Referee Committee.

If you need to register then go to the Registration Page at the Cal South Referee Committee. Make sure you follow the instructions exactly as they are written.

Your registration is based on the calendar year, NOT on the league season. Your registration is due on December 31 of each year. If you have not registered by June 15 of the following year it is too late and you'll be retaking the class.

OK, so you are Certified and Registered, now, how do you LOOK like a Referee? Official Sports is probably the most popular place to buy your gear. You can also get "Official Sports" gear from Kelly Mock at the SDSRA meetings on the third Thursday of each month. If you need something special email him in advance or call him at (760) 632-8987.

LAWS, WHAT LAWS??
Here is a really cool website that you should check out:
AskTheRef.com . We are very impressed with the easy to understand discussions, great explanations and fun this site has with the Laws of the Game. Challenge yourself...take the quizzes! You'll 'chat' at the referees less often once you realize how much there is to know!

2006 Laws of the Game - this is a large .pdf file, wait for the download

2005 Questions and Answers to the Laws of the Game - this is a large .pdf file. It is a discussion format set-up as "If this happens, what do i do".
